1) What inspired you to go into the media industry?
Media wasn’t in my plans. I started off thinking about attending law school, and while studying at 3am for a philosophy final, I realized that just wasn’t the path for me. I was good at story-telling and negotiating, and after researching (and binge-watching Mad Men!), I realized my skills would be perfect for media and advertising.
2) Give us one big prediction for the media industry of the future?
I think the future of advertising lies at a crossroads between A.I. and Data Personalization. For example, targeted ads across all touch-points (not just digital) based on behavior from our mobile phones. Personalization based on our location, app-usage, device-mapping, etc. is already a big part of our industry. It’s just a matter of time before we really start using every data point across all advertising channels to deliver ultra-personalized ads.
3) If you could give one piece of advice to your college-senior self, what would it be?
Simply put, relax! You’re still young and you don’t need to have your entire career set in stone right this second.
4) Last one: if you got a blank plane ticket today, where would you go – and why?
Brazil! I’ve been obsessed with Brazilian food, music, dance, culture, and their diaspora of races ever since I can remember.
