At this year’s #MSHUDDLE, Mindshare Canada hosted more than 20 partners who examined the topic of truth and trust in the era of fake news.
Craig Silverman, Founding Editor at BuzzFeed Canada provided the opening keynote and took a deep dive into “fake news”, misinformation, and what it takes to build trust. Silverman shed some light on ad fraud and the effect that it has on brands. He also discussed how the ad industry is being affected by concerns about quality, fraud, and brand safety.
Check out the MSHuddle episode of our podcast – Speed of Culture – where Devon MacDonald, Chief Strategy Officer, took some additional time with Silverman to talk about how he gets his news and what advice he has for the next generation of journalists.
The biggest challenge for the partners, which included Twitter, Vice, Snap Inc, Buzzfeed, Amazon, and Facebook, was the fact that there were no decks presented at the Huddle. It can be hard to discuss diving into the news, uncovering the unknown, and content and consumer trust without a presentation!
Spotify simulated our dream music-filled house using VR technology, Oath’s live magician had a ton of tricks up his sleeve, and Google’s Age of Assistance experience reminded us that the future is now.
#MSHUDDLE got us up from our desks to spend the day exploring all the talks and interactive experiences that took place within our offices. We have already started our countdown to next year!
